Nafisa Ferdous

Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Center for Tobacco and the Environment

She/her

Nafisa is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the Center for Tobacco and the Environment. She earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Research on Substance Use at a Joint Doctoral Program between UC San Diego and San Diego State University. In her postdoctoral research, Nafisa assesses children’s exposure to second- and thirdhand tobacco smoke, e-cigarette vapor, and cannabis smoke/vape, with a particular emphasis on addressing the often-underestimated public health issue of thirdhand exposure. She is looking forward to the Policy Research Center’s pioneering work on thirdhand smoke to offer vital resources and data to engage advocates to lead discussions and initiatives for shaping thirdhand smoke policies nationwide. In her free time, you can find Nafisa crocheting or watching sitcoms.
